Quinta do Moinho 1998, Bairrada 12 year old vines; Baga planted on chalky clay soils. 7.8 ha vineyard. Deep coloured with a slightly fading rim. There’s some gamey, earthy maturity on the nose, which is spicy and savoury. The palate is spicy and chunky: still very tannic and quite earthy.

The 2001 Tinto "Quinta Do Moinho" is a Baga aged for 12 months in used French oak. It comes in at just 13.2% alcohol. Quite a contrast to the 2001 Barrio also reviewed, this is even silkier, tighter and more youthful in terms of fruit development.
